Chapter Leaders Playground Frequently Asked Questions
Wondering about the Chapter Leaders Playground Background- Why did you start the Chapter Leaders Playground?
If we work together to grow our leadership skills the world will be a better place. If chapters have a healthy pipeline of well trained leaders, their chapters and associations will be stronger. Stronger chapters and associations mean stronger communities - and a better world.
"I’m on a mission to change the world one leader at a time.” - Cynthia D’Amour
- Who is Cynthia D’Amour?
Cynthia was raised a club kid and grew up in a volunteering kind of family. As an adult, Cynthia also recruited more than 250 members and served more than 40 total years on volunteer boards. She’s passionate about developing leaders. She even customized her recently earned MBA to focus on working with associations. Cynthia’s spent more than ten years professionally working with associations that want to get more members involved – and is a frequent keynote at association leadership events. Cynthia’s also the author of several books including: The Lazy Leaders Guide to Outrageous Results and How to Turn Generation Me into Active Members of Your Association. Her books are available in the Leadership Shop.
- Why does Cynthia focus on Chapter Leaders?
Chapters are at the heart of building community. Chapter Leaders is a generic term for the people Cynthia works with. They come from all levels in associations: local, regional, state, national, international, etc. They may come from chapters, special interest groups, divisions, alliances, bureaus, alumni groups, clubs and more. They are all people who are interested in being better leaders for the groups they lead – whether a small local chapter or an international association with a million members. Joining the Playground- Can anyone belong to the Chapter Leaders Playground?
Yes, as long as they are interested in working on their leadership skills and/or helping others to become better leaders.
- I belong to a civic club. Will the Playground be relevant to me?
Yes, we are using the term "chapter leader” as the generic term for people who are or are interested in getting involved as leaders of their organization – whether a local, state, national, international component – or any other configuration your organization may have. At the core of the Playground is a focus on membership.
- What does Chapter Leaders Playground membership include?
Access to the Playground includes a variety of ways for leaders to meet each other, learn from each other - and have fun. Membership also includes access to all the webinars – at least 30 each year.
- How much does it cost to join the Chapter Leaders Playground?
Individual dues are normally $50/individual - today they are complimentary.
- I’m a business coach. I can help members grow as leaders. Can I recruit your members?
Not through your membership in the Chapter Leaders Playground. Like any good playground, our Playground is a drug free and sale free zone for member to member solicitations. Cynthia and the Playground staff will be the only ones able to add events or items to the Playground Store.
- Can I promote my business to members using their contact information?
No. The Chapter Leaders Playground is a peer to peer community focused on helping each other to become better leaders. Business promotion to members will be grounds for termination of membership.
- Is the Chapter Leaders Playground just for beginning leaders?
The Playground is set up for any level of leadership. When you join, you will indicate how many years of experience you have. Based on that, you’ll automatically be placed in a Play Group of your peers experience wise. We have everything from people who are dreaming of becoming leaders of their chapters, leaders with some experience – and advanced leaders with a ton of experience. There’s a home for you no matter how much experience you start out with.
- I’m an association professional who works with chapter leaders. Can I join the Chapter Leaders Playground?
Of course. Cynthia has set a special group for association professionals so you can build your own community of support while working with chapter leaders. There is also a Component Relations Professional group for those associations who have taken the steps to commit to supporting their leaders growth with membership in the Playground.
